Language and religion
The official language is Romanian,of latin origin. Most of the Romanians speak English, German, French and Italian is understood by most of the people. Most of the Romanians are orthodox (87%), greek-catholics and roman catholics (5%), Lutheran and reformat church (1.5%), there are also small communities of neoprotestants, muslims, jews.
The Romanian Constitution agrees with the religios liberty.

Timisoara - 330.000 inhabitants
Cluj-Napoca – 320.000 inhabitants

Geography
Romania is situated in SE Europe, between latitude 43.37'.07” and 48.15'.06” northern hemisphere and longitude 20.15'.44” and 29.41'.24” east. The total surface of the country is of 237.500 sq.km with a population of 23.000.000 inhabitants, out of which 89.7% Romanians, 6.9% Hungarians, 1.8% Germans, also existing small minorities of Ukrainiens, Slovaks, Turks, Rusians, Bulgarians, Jews, Armenians.

The local currency is "Leu", but for optional services one can also pay in euro.
In order to understand better what the Danube Delta is, please try and read and if possible memorise the following information regarding the last living delta in Europe.
With a long jorney from the Black Forest mountains from Germany the Danube ends its way in Romania's Black Sea being known as the largest and the most beautiful of European deltas. It is over 2800 km long and it crosses 9 European countries.
The river can be considered to be a bond between several cultures, but in the meantime it was also the place that offered shelter to people and hundreds of species of animals and plants. It was the home for many people starting with the Scythians and Dacian people who never left this land. It was known during the early history but also during the middle ages because of its accessibility to the sea, becoming between 10th and 15th century the main trade center for the Greek, Arab, Venice and Genoa merchands.
Tulcea is the town close to the point where it divides into its main channels: Sulina, Saint George and Chilia.The town is situated on 7 hills, it is an important port and an important economic center.
The delta has the shape of a triangle, the water temperature during the summer months is between 20-22 degrees.
The main branches of the Danube are:
1.Chilia-the most northern channel, with two other smaller branches, creating a micro-delta by itself, length 105km to the locality of Periprava, width 1000m, maximum depth 39m.
2.Sulina - the shortest and the most developed chanel. Lemgth 64 km, maximum width 250m, maximum depth 18m.
3.St.George - the oldest chanel of the Danube to reach the Black Sea, length 64km, width 550m, maximum depth 26m.
A recent study on the Danube Delta relevates that over 3400 species of animals live in this biotope, some being national monuments as well as international. Out of this protecten monuments we can enumerate the white and Dalmatian pelican, red brested geese, sheld duck etc.
There are over 150 types of fish out of which 30 only in the main Delta: carp, sturgeon, perch, pike perch.
There are 18 strictely protected areas, places of transit, stopover and hatching for birds
The mammals and small animals can also be found in a great diversity, creating a rich biotope of mammals, insects, birds and plants that form altogether the beautiful Danube Delta.

Customs
Romania agrees to the international agreements of the Convention for the touristic and customs code.
It is forbidden to import or export without a special licence: ammunition, explosives, drugs, pornographic materials. It is also not permited to export without a special licence: cultural, historic or artistical values.
Precious objects and jewelles with a value bigger than 10.000 euro/pers must be declared at the entrance into the country, and the certificate you get for them must be kept until leaving the country.

None for the tourists, compulsory antirabic vaccination for cats and dogs.
